Manchester United started the week by a 1-0 victory over the Blues of Birmingham. Although United was bit slow-paced than their last week’s show with Chelsea, they seems prepared to fight with the Roma when they visit home of Manchester United in the champions league clash in the mid-week.

Dubai - one of the most talked about cities in the world and a unique hot-spot that represents one of the emirates that constitutes the United Arab Emirates. A vision that has inspired the global audience for their commitment, dedication and determination to build a ‘your wish is my command’ kind of heaven. Critics may argue about the pace of its development and the possible direction where it is heading. But quite certainly, oil reserve is no more a problem to them.
Dubai’s gross domestic product as of 2006 was US$46 billion. Although Dubai’s economy was built on the back of the oil industry, revenues from oil and natural gas currently account for less than 3% of the emirate’s revenues. Today, tourism plays a vital role in the development of Dubai and it’s flagship carrier “Emirates Airline” is one of the fastest growing Airline in the world.
This could quite well be a beginning of seeing a Muslim brand that is competing in the global corporate arena. Today Dubai, is not a dessert, but a vibrant city state that is becoming a strong Muslim brand after many centuries.
Real Madrid kicked-off their title race with style winning all domestic matches and last night against Werder Bremen , Madrid scored 2 goals with Raul’s stunning header from Ruud. They won 2-1 at home. Real’s dream to win their 10th European title is alive and optimistic. “beautiful football” as promised by coach Bernd Schuster is now very live to all football lovers. My guess is 2007/08 .. a REAL’s big year in European football.
Is government having a loose hand or is it overflowing generosity to the public? Investors are skeptical about the ongoing attitude of the government announcing new resorts without having any productive plan ahead. Master Plan? or a plan for destruction?
In Haa Alif, now Hathifushi and Berinmadhoo announced for BID, 200 beds each. Dhonakulhi as Island Hideaway and Alidhu already in operation whilst Manafaru is yet to open soon. The concern is not only the rapid expansion but why can’t government consider providing the most needed infrastructure to facilitate this expansion. Several bottle-necks already created by the increased demand to north due to improper capacity planning.
